Katrin

I love a woman who knows what she wants.  Katrin had definite ideas about her maternity shoot and I was happy to oblige.  Over two days and many hours together, we shot hundred of photographs.  It’s funny that we’ve never met since we know so many of the same people, therefore we fell in together easily.  It was as if we had been friends for ages.  Here’s just a sampling of the many images.  I can’t wait to meet that baby boy!

Oliver + Reilley

Anyone who knows me knows I have a real soft spot for dogs.  There is something so wonderful and pure about their love for people and the relationship we have with them.  We lost our dog, Dexy, just a year and a half ago.  Rescued by Steve 1997 and she became “my” dog in 2001.  Now Siggy, a maltese/poodle mix, shares our couch.  He’s not the same, but we love him just as much.

Kari took my photo tour to Tuscany in April and we’ve spoken on and off about doing portraits of her dogs ever since.  Her older dog, Reilley had not been well and she wanted some great memories and images of him before he left us.  I love Oliver and Reilley.  We had a wonderful evening together, walking through the corn fields, posing in front of grape vines, and splashing in Reilley’s favorite “swimming” hole.  Oliver and Reilley frequent the “drive-through” for treats by coming to the kitchen window when they are outside playing.

Unfortuately, Kari and Gary had to put Reilley down just 10 days later.  It broke my heart, but not as much as it broke theirs.  Cheers to the love between man and dog.

Baby Jackson {6 months}

I have to admit, there’s nothing cuter than babies. Except one who wears a bow tie. Or a little old man hat. Or smiles for the camera (every single time!).
Yes, one look at Jackson’s sweet face and my heart melted. So how lucky was I that I got to spend a full day photographing that adorable little boy? I wanted to plan an extra-special trip for the occasion, so we packed a picnic, threw in a dozen changes of outfits (as you know, babies get dirty!), tucked our trusty videographer into the car (check back soon for Glenna’s video!), and with mom, Sara, and dad, Jon,  we hustled ourselves off to lovely Soave. What an adventure we had! Despite the searing mid-day heat, Jackson mugged for camera all afternoon. I got shots of him playing with flowers, playing with dad, and even sitting unassisted for the first time! The next day, mom and dad told me Jackson came down with a flu when he got home, but you would never guess that from his big smiles and charming giggles during the photo shoot. What a little trooper!
As an added bonus, two weeks later, Sara, Jon, and Jackson invited me and the hubby on a trip to Pamplona for the legendary Running of the Bulls. Jackson and I watched from the sidelines (hey, somebody had to stay with baby!) and cheered the gutsy runners on, snapping photos the whole time. What a pleasure to have met this fantastic family and amazing little boy.

Marcus + Christina

When love is in the air, I’m not far behind with my camera. And what better place to showcase love than in the romantic city of Venice? Marcus’ fiancee, Christina, was flying in from the United States to visit and the couple wanted to capture two things for their memory books: an amazing vacation and an engagement shoot. So on a  hot, hot, hot June day (the temps maxed out at 95 degrees!), we headed out in the city of water to snap the shots of a lifetime. After an entire day spent wandering around the charming cobbled streets and checking out the blue-green canals of Venice, we walked away with some of the most romantic and heart-felt photos I’ve ever had the honor of shooting. It helped that this attractive couple was up for any poses, backgrounds, and scenes I suggested. There is such beauty in young love and I enjoyed the day so much. I wish them the best in their bright and exciting future together.

Baby Mason {8 days old}

Let’s just say I’ve known little Mason since before he was born. I met his mother Monica while hosting a photo tour of Lago di Garda and I must admit, she looked like she was ready to have the baby that day. I’m a sucker for that glowing mama-to-be look, so I sweet talked into posing for a few maternity shots in the gorgeous Italian village of Lazise. Monica was a good sport and the shots ended up being beautiful. But how could they not be with such a lovely model and charming background?
Just a few weeks later Monica emailed me the good news that Mason had arrived and was in need of a deluxe newborn photo shoot. Despite the fact that Mason was a little under the weather on the day of his modeling debut,  we pushed through and the results of our marathon four-hour shoot were fantastic. Because Mason’s dad, Houston, was about to leave Italy, we were able to capture some very special memories for him to take while he was away. We even had a wonderful little assistant that day in big brother, Kaden. He was so helpful carrying camera gear for us and even bringing me water. I might have to hire that little guy for my next photo shoot. Overall, it was a great day and I look forward to watching this cutie grow up.
