The Lang Family

Heather and I met when she took a couple of my photography classes and it was great to get to know her socially later on.  When I first met Mimi (see earlier blog post) in Germany, I was surprised to see Heather in the back seat of the van.  A few months later, when Mimi asked me about doing a shoot in Tuscany, the Langs were the perfect family to come with us.  Some of the best words I’ve ever heard were from Heather, “I’ve taken your classes, anytime you want to shoot, we will be ready.”  I expected huge groans when I suggested a sunrise shoot, but Paul (nominee for Best Husband), just said, “Sounds good.”  Seriously, I never get this response.  Ever.

Since I had spoken and emailed at length with both Heather and Mimi about the looks they wanted for their shoots, I had a long list of places we were going to shoot.  I didn’t want them with the same photos of each family in the same locations, so I planned to vary it throughout the day.  Heather was looking for more of an Italian architecture style, so we planned on Cappella della Madonna di Vitaleta in Pienza and the Church of San Biagio in Montepulciano.  Mimi wanted a different look and we planned to shoot in Pienza centro and the Abbey of Sant’Antimo in Montalcino.  We’d also take a couple of shots in a vineyard since we were just days from harvest and the grapes were gorgeous.

I couldn’t have asked for nicer weather or more accommodating people.  Unfortunately, after our early morning shoot on Saturday, Paul was called back home for work.  After the fastest mini shoot ever in the castle near our agriturismo, Paul left with the Aquinos.  Then it was up to us girls (and Steve) to enjoy the rest of the day.  We still photographed at San Biagio and Sant’Antimo, found a gorgeous vineyard at sunset, ate amazing food, and drank a gorgeous Brunello before heading back to the agriturismo where we were staying.  And, everyone will agree, these are just gorgeous images of a lovely family.
